The Elease Scholarship History:
The Mission of The VanRoss Foundation is to support our High School Seniors by awarding them partial scholarships for college. During our eight years of service, we have built partnerships with corporations and received the support of individual donors, along with of our dedicated board members. It took having a vision of how we could help our students monetarily in continuing their educational goals. It is important to them to pursue their educational goals and it is important to us as a nonprofit organization to support them. We have had the pleasure of talking with our TVF Scholars and they are determined, energized and committed to making life better not just for them, but for their communities and beyond. This dedication and excitement has led us to another avenue to assist our students.
In expanding our vision, TVF has expanded our services to further assist students to reach their career goals. We want to give students the opportunity to develop a better understanding of nonprofits, how they are formed and how they operate. This internship will also teach them how to stay on track with the mission, how to raise funds to sustain a nonprofit. To support this initiative, we have created The Elease Scholarship Award.
Mrs. Elease Nance-Richardson was the proud mother of nine children and she strongly encouraged them to work hard, be original, and walk by Faith and not by sight. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and recognized the individual talents of each of her children and encouraged them to leave a mark on the world, in their own unique way. For these reasons, her children built lives in a variety of different fields, many of which led them to pursue higher education. It is in this light that The Elease Scholarship Award is being established in her honor and will be sponsored by her son, and TVF Board Member Terry Richardson.
In providing for our students we decided to implement another level of giving. We have developed an annual internship for our students, The Elease Scholarship Award for TVF Interns. We want to work with them on a one-to-one basis to help them develop skills that will give them valuable experience.

About Julianne:
My name is Julianne Ho, and I am an intern at The VanRoss Foundation. As part of my work, I assist with grant searching and grant writing. I also help develop webinars for College Readiness Roundup. Outside of my internship, I'm pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Applied Sociology and will be applying for my Master's degree this fall. I hope to become a policy analyst studying youth welfare in my future career. Working at The VanRoss Foundation has taught me how non-profits create programs and initiatives to serve their communities, and I am grateful to learn more about the non-profit sector while aiding students in my community.
