Kelvin B. Hart has served diligently for more than twenty-five years as an educator, assistant principal, summer school principal and now a District Official with Shelby County School District. As a District Official, he conducts investigations for parent concerns and works to ensure that administration is in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights. He communicates and advises the district's administration of discipline policies and procedures. He serves as a Discipline Hearing Authority, addressing and rectifying stressful situations with ease and deals with student related concerns (discipline, attendance etc.). Additionally, Kelvin is actively involved in collaborating with community partners to find programs and to support in the reduction of exclusionary consequences, which remove students from their learning environment. He coordinates and presents professional development to administrators and faculties as well as assists with the development of their intervention plans.
Kelvin graduated from University of Memphis with a BS in Education. He also holds a M.Ed. and Ed.S. from Union University. Kelvin is a native Memphian and graduate of Bartlett High School. He and his wife have two daughters and an adult son.
Kelvin’s community involvement includes Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Tau Iota Sigma Graduate Chapter, where he serves as a mentor and advises the Education Committee. He was recently selected as the School Night Chairman for Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Chickasaw Council. One of his many accomplishments was joining BSA, and earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
