Faye Thicklin retired in 2014 as an Educator for the Kansas City, Kansas School District. She has worked as a Teacher, Principal, Director of Elementary in Human Resource and a Curriculum Coordinator.
In 1971 Faye graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa and she completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC).
Faye served as a Teacher Trainer for a Drug & Alcohol Program in the ‘90’s, titled “Here’s Looking At You In 2000.” In 1999-2003, she was a Staff Development Trainer for Kansas City, Kansas Substitute Teachers as well as a Teacher Trainer on Wednesday afternoons with other assigned teachers from 2004-2014 at the Bethel Elementary School.
She has volunteered on various boards: The Library Board for Wyandotte County, The Children’s Museum of Kansas City and her church board. She served as President of The Optimist Club and The National Alliance of Black School Educators.
Faye resides in Overland Park, Ks. with her husband, Mitch. She enjoys reading, cooking and traveling domestically as well as internationally. Her daughter along with her family lives in Virginia.
